Environmental Campus for the afforestation of Beeshet Amer
The Alliance for Arab Women in collaboration with Banque Misr Foundation for Development and Community Welfare has carried out an environmental campus in Beeshet Amer village in Sharkia from the 18th till the 20th of October 2009. This initiative is within the framework of "The Development of Institutional Capacity and Human Resources in Beeshet Amer" Project.The campus started with cleaning the land of the village using the equipment provided by the local council of Menya Al Qmah in preparation for it to be afforested. Lighting stand ins have also been repaired.100 young men and women have taken part in the afforestation process; they have planted more than 850 trees, The Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) has contributed with 500 trees to help in the afforestation. Specialists in the field of environmental studies from Zagazig University have cooperated in spreading awareness among the village residents about the importance of the beautification of both the inside and the outside of their homes. By the end of the campus they have also been educated on how to preserve and care for the existing trees and the ones that have been planted throughout the campus.
